COL DEI FRANCHI

Vineyard Artisans

Col dei Franchi’s approach to quality is completely different from the traditional approach. The research and selection of the best grapes from the best vineyards of Valdobbiadene, the collaboration with real artisans of the vineyard, lovers of the amazing Prosecco’s hills and the intuitions of our enologist are what let us get the best for our wines and our lovers, without tying the quality of our wines to the quality of owned vineyards. For these reasons we like to think us as “Grape Hunters”.

COL DEI FRANCHI
Passion for wine

Col dei Franchi was born from the love of two friends for the wine and the Italian style. A mix of ingredients that has the goal of creating the Prosecco that did’t exist, a great taste inside and beautiful outside: the research of a Prosecco of the highest quality combined with a design thought in the smallest details, from the bottle to the label, gave birth to Caj and Orochiaro, respectively Prosecco Doc and Docg, recently flanked by the Rosè Doc, Orochiaro Rosé.

VALDOBBIADENE
A unique area

The Conegliano Valdobbiadene area is located in a hilly zone 50km away from Venice and about 100km from the Dolomites.  The conformation of the territory assures a temperate climate all the year; the prevailing southern exposition, the steepness of the hills together with the frequent and fresh wind make sure that the summer rains don’t compromise the life of the vines.

The prosecco

Viticulture has ancient roots here but the first written citation that binds the Prosecco to this area dates back to 1772. From the introduction of the D.O.C. (from the Italian, Di Origine Controllata, translated: of controlled origin), in 1969, the historic production ares has remained limited to 15 municipalities. Two of these municipalities give the name to D.O.C. area: Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, the first as cultural capital, the latter as productive heart.
